2010 Conti Costanti Brunello di Montalcino Riserva
On Sale $155.99
The 2010 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva is fabulous. Dark cherry, lavender, mint, hard candy and a host of balsamic-inflected notes soar from the glass as this towering, structured Rivera shows off its personality. This is one of the more tannic, backward Riserva of the vintage. As such, demands patience. Just as extraordinary as it was last year, the Riserva once again shows just how magical this vintage was for Andrea Costanti.

2010 Fuligni Brunello di Montalcino Riserva
On Sale $147.99 750ml
Wonderful aromas of dried mushrooms, flowers, plums, nuts and cedar. Complex. Full body, firm and silky tannins and a long, flavorful finish. I love the finish. Such elegance. Racy and very long. Superb. What a wine. I always love this. Drink or hold.

2010 Siro Pacenti Brunello di Montalcino Riserva PS
On Sale $156.99
Only made in the best years, the 2010 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva PS is a phenomenal achievement. The wine was produced in 2006, 2007, 2010 and will also be released in 2012 and 2015. Fruit is sourced from across a five-hectare vineyard in the northern part of the appellation, but only 1,500 bottles are made using the very best fruit. This is an incredible wine that shows a promising evolution in the glass. The bouquet is fluid and graceful with a very precise and focused delivery. Dark fruit is contrasted against pressed rose, smoked spice and crushed graphite. The finish is silky and very long. Attractive tones of savory smoked meat appear at the very end.

2010 Il Poggione Brunello di Montalcino Riserva Vigna Paganelli
On Sale $114.99
The 2010 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva Vigna Paganelli is a phenomenal achievement and a wine that captures not only the spirit of this classic vintage, but the true essence of an age-worthy wine like Brunello. This single vineyard Riserva is sharp, pristine and immaculate. It starts slow and shy, but then blossoms to beautiful intensity and aromatic brilliance. It delivers a very authentic and genuine read of Sangiovese with wild berry aromas followed by pressed violets, wet earth, tobacco and lightly toasted spice. The bouquet is seamless and very long in persistence. The same holds true for the mouthfeel. The wine delivers a fine and silky texture with a good dose of power and personality at the rear.

2010 Casanova di Neri Brunello di Montalcino Cerretalto
On Sale $309.99
This is very tannic and powerful with loads of currants, spices and hints of wood. So much stone and mineral character to this. Violets, too. Full-bodied, tight and structured. Massively dense yet agile and bright. It goes on for minutes. Needs at least three or four years to soften. Try in 2020.

2010 Ciacci di Piccolomini Brunello di Montalcino Riserva
On Sale $139.99
This is a graceful and super elegant wine with bold aromatic intensity that is followed by firm tannins and a polished, smooth texture. It offers power in the proverbial silken glove. But the wine is not simplistic by any stretch. The longer it warms in the glass, the more it delights and surprises. Delicate tones of wild berry, cassis, blanched almond and dried ginger work together in harmony.

2010 Fossacolle Brunello di Montalcino Riserva
On Sale $102.99
This Brunello opens to dark concentration and deep ruby highlights that add to the wine’s overall weight and importance. The bouquet is composed of a fine aromatic embroidery with cherry, spice, tobacco and grilled herb. What distinguishes this wine in the end is its superb texture. This Riserva walks a fine line between elegance and power, and it does a great job of delivering both. That density and determination bodes well for its future aging potential.

2010 Poggio Antico Brunello di Montalcino Riserva
On Sale $124.99
This wine is inviting from the very first sip. The 2010 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva is a fine example of excellent winemaking at Poggio Antico. This Brunello opens to pretty layers of forest berry, blanched almond, grilled rosemary, balsam herb and cassis. The style adopted here is elegant and tight, and shows a high level of complexity. Poggio Antico has stepped away from the richer and more extracted style that I remember a few years ago. Instead, this is a long-term wine that needs more time to open, but that promises to improve with age. I would suggest opening the bottle after 2018 or longer if you can wait.
