2014 Chardonnay Highlights

31 Mar 2014 Chardonnay Highlights

2014 was an excellent vintage for Chardonnay in California, and these two Chardonnays are a great example of everything that went right that year. Mayacamas Vineyards dates back to 1889 and has produced countless gorgeous vintages of its famous Chardonnay. The fruit for this wine is picked early to preserve the zippy acidity and classic character of Mt. Veeder. Also on sale we have the incredible bargain Foxglove, made in a similar style to highlight the acidity and preserve the fruit character without excessive weight. These are two beautiful wines, one perfect for weekend entertaining and one just right for weeknight dinner.

2014 Mayacamas Vineyards Chardonnay, Mt. Veeder, Napa Valley
On Sale $44.99
The 2014 Chardonnay is brilliant. Lemon oil, white flowers, mint, almonds and smoke are all beautifully delineated in this transparent, super-finessed Chardonnay built on total finesse. The decision to pick a touch earlier plus the blocked malo style result in a focused, energetic Chardonnay that hits all the right notes.

2014 Foxglove Chardonnay, Central Coast
On Sale $12.99
The highlight in this range from Foxglove, the 2014 Chardonnay packs a serious punch for the money. Bright, juicy and exuberant, the Foxglove Chardonnay will thrill readers looking for a budget-priced Chardonnay. Lemon peel, white flowers and mint meld together in a rich, beautifully layered Chardonnay long on class. Aging in steel and blocked malolactic fermentation keep the flavors bright, but there is no shortage of depth or intensity. This is a fabulous wine, especially considering its modest price.
