21 Sep Bordeaux 2nd Label Tasting Sun. 9/24
Sunday, September 24
1 to 4pm
At the Bar
Join us as we conclude Bordeaux Weekend with a tasting of two of our favorite second label reds. Second wines are awesome because the quality rocks just as much as grands vins, they’re made in the same way, by the same hands, with the same grapes, but the prices are amazing.
2011 Les Hauts de Canon-la-Gaffeliere, Saint-Emilion
On Sale $26.99
This is a knockout second wine of Canon-la-Gaffeliere, offering first label quality at second label pricing. Produced from sustainably farmed vineyards in the southern part of St Emilion, the wine is primarily Merlot and Cabernet Franc, with a small portion of Cabernet Sauvignon. It has a nice fruity edge, with earthy notes and a wonderful, rich mouth feel. Notes of cassis, black cherry, and fresh tobacco come through on the palate, leading to a slight spice on the finish.
2014 Comte d’Aiguilhe, Castillon, Cotes de Bordeaux
On Sale $16.99
This is a second wine of Chateau d’Aiguilhe. We LOVE second wines because they offer the same quality and winemaking techniques at lesser prices. These are a great place to look for value.
