Champagne & Still Wine Tasting Sat. 11/18

16 Nov Champagne & Still Wine Tasting Sat. 11/18

Saturday, November 18
12 to 4pm
In our Event Space

Join us for one of our most anticipated tastings of the year, featuring the grower Champagnes of Terry Theise! These are some of the best “farmer fizz” out there and it is really fun to taste the whole lineup at once. If you think all Champagnes taste the same, you’ll enjoy tasting them side-by-side and picking out the differences.

And because not everyone loves Champagne (yes, there are apparently people who don’t love Champagne), we’re also pouring a selection of great “feasting” wines with Bill Kniep of Pinnacle Imports. No matter what’s hitting your dinner tables, we’ve got you covered with the perfect pairings.

Table 2: Non-Champagnes

2015 Domaine des Baumard Savennières

Alluring, with quince, creamed pear, verbena and green almond flavors allied to a creamy texture, all offset beautifully through the finish by light quinine and mineral hints. Approachable, but this seems built for the cellar. Best from 2018 through 2030. 1,500 cases imported.

2014 Albert Bichot Montagny 1er Cru
On Sale $29.99
This Montagny Premier Cru is redolent of oak, vanilla and brioche. It is round and delectable on the palate with lovely vivacity and minerality. The finish is long and fragrant with flavours of almond and both raw and cooked apple.
Winery Notes

2016 Laroche Mas la Chevaliere Rosé, Pays d’Oc
On Sale $12.99
This rockin’ rosé comes from the famous LaRoche in the Languedoc region. A blend of 65% Grenache and 35% Syrah, it has a richness that comes across on the nose before it even reaches the palate. Notes of strawberries, tropical fruit, and red berries lead to a zesty, dry finish. This is the rosé of the year.
Merch Notes

2016 Domaine Lafond Roc-Epine Rosé, Tavel
On Sale $16.99
Lafond Rose is characterized by the color of soft pure pink. The dominant aromas are complex, white and red fruits combine with floral notes. Over time these fruity aromas evolve towards more balanced soft, spicy touches and stone fruit, while the color of iridescent amber highlights. It has, in the first year, all its flavors but has exceptional potential for aging.
Winemaker’s Notes

2015 Domaine Dublere Savigny-les-Beaune “Les Planchots du Nord”
On Sale $29.99
The 2015 Savigny-lès-Beaune Les Planchots du Nord comes from vines that surround the winery located just past the A6 auto-route to the north of Beaune. The nose is quite intense with red cherries, raspberry coulis and rose petals.
The Wine Advocate

2015 Domaine Jean Royer Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvee Tradition
On Sale $35.99
Leading off the 2015s from bottle and based on 90% Grenache and 5% each of Syrah and Cinsault, the 2015 Châteauneuf-du-Pape is a beauty. Kirsch liqueur, toasted spice, dried garrigue and pepper nuances all flow to a ripe, sexy 2015 that’s already drinking beautifully. With fine, supple tannin, solid balance and a great finish, it will keep for a decade.
