“Even after all of these years, and with much more intense competition than ever before, Harlan Estate remains one of the great wines in Napa Valley…What a Wine!”

2013 Harlan Estate Proprietary Red Wine Napa Valley

As I predicted last year, the 2013 Harlan Estate is one of their all-time greats, although they have had many of them, starting with the 1991, followed by 1994, 1995, 1997 (although controversial in some circles), 2001, 2002, 2005, 2007, 2010 and 2012. This great first-growth property, with aspirations to produce the finest Cabernet Sauvignon-based wine made in the New World, has given us a wine that has it all in 2013. Dense purple to the rim, with notes of espresso, white chocolate, mocha, blackberry, cassis, and cedar wood, the wine is full-bodied, opulent, but also structured, pure and incredibly long (well past a minute aftertaste). It is probably closest in personality and overall character to the compelling 2001, which is still a youthful wine at age 15. Drink it over the next 50+ years.

2013 Harlan Estate The Maiden

More serious and concentrated, bigger and denser, the 2013 The Maiden is one of the strongest efforts, and possibly the best Maiden tasted to date. Deep, with mulberry and blackberry fruit, some cedarwood, and terrific opulence, this is a stunner and a wine to drink over the next 20 or more years.

“The five separate single vineyards that Bill Harlan has under long-term contract continue to perform at first growth quality levels.”

2013 Bond Melbury Proprietary Red Wine
Inquire about pricing!
The brilliant 2013 Melbury ratchets up the level of extract, with an opaque purple color, dense blueberry liqueur-like notes along with white flowers, licorice, and camphor followed by a full-bodied, incredibly seamless, concentrated, multidimensional wine. With its amazing depth and richness, while accessible now, it probably won’t hit its stride for another 5-7 years and last 30-35.

2013 Bond Pluribus Proprietary Red Wine

The 2013 Pluribus is the finest wine I’ve tasted from this vineyard to date, capturing the vintage’s extraordinary purity and richness, with a multidimensional mouthfeel and incredible notes of blue and black fruits, charcoal, graphite and white flowers. This profound effort should hit its prime in another 5-10 years and evolve for 30-40 or more.
100 points, Robert Parker

2013 Bond Quella Proprietary Red Wine

Much more structured, muscular, tannic and intense is the 2013 Quella, which exhibits blackberry notes, licorice, some truffle, graphite and damp earth, huge fruit, a muscular, full-bodied mouthfeel, and a long, moderately tannic finish. Forget it for a few years and drink it over the following 25-30+ years.
