03 Nov New Jura Wines
Domaine de la Touraize is a project of Andre-Jean Morin, part of an 8th generation family of wine makers in Jura. Using classic Burgundian techniques (and with all grapes hand-selected and hand-picked), Morin is creating some really beautiful small-production wines. Jura is an obsure region situated between Burgundy and the Northern Rhone Valley. It’s home to lesser-known grapes like Savignin and Trousseau, but also stunning quality Pinot Noirs and Chardonnays. While this region is well-known among the wine community for its oxidative “vin jaune,” which is a lot like Sherry, we find that its young, fresh wines are friendly and appealing to a wider audience.
