2012 Dunn Cabernet Sauvignon, Howell Mountain

Classy label, classy wine

Classy label, classy wine

On Sale $124.99
The stunning 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Howell Mountain is a 30-year wine. Loads of crème de cassis, blackberry liqueur, licorice, incense and oak jump from the glass of this huge, massive, concentrated and ripe wine that reminds me of some of the early vintages from Michael Dunn’s father, Randy, particularly the 1982 and 1984. This is a beauty of great intensity and purity that should age effortlessly for 25-30+ years. If you can find it, it will be certainly worth having, as it flirts with perfection.

Aromas of blackberry, blueberry, and cracked pepper. Some dried flowers. Full-bodied, firm and very structured with chewy yet polished tannins and a long, long finish. Vivd and gorgeous. Lots of lemon rind. Beautiful now. Built for aging. Better in 2020.

2012 Clos du Val Cabernet Sauvignon, Stags Leap District
On Sale $32.99
Clos du Val’s 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon is a pretty wine with lovely balance and an understated personality to match. Plums, black cherries, tobacco, cedar, flowers and mint are laced into the silky, expressive finish. Overall this is an attractive, mid-weight Cabernet built on a classic sense of structure. It should drink well for the next decade or more.
