10 Aug Palon Cotes du Rhone
Stunning New Cotes-du-Rhone Bargain!
So here’s a secret for you… Domaine Palon produces two wines – Gigondas and Vacqueyras. Both 2016s are rated 92 points in the Wine Advocate, and are our #1 selling bottles for these appellations. This gem comes from a small vineyard located just outside the Vacqueyras border. The hook is that it’s treated with the same care and attention as the village wines, but it’s a more fruit-forward, everyday wine that will drink great for 4-6 years. But who are we kidding? It’s so good, you won’t want to wait 4-6 weeks!
2016 Domaine Palon “Cuvee Esparza,” Cotes du Rhone AOP
On Sale $12.99
This brilliant example achieves a restrained power that showcase complex soil components as much as the juicy and ripe briary fruit and garrigue flavors. 69% Grenache, 16% Syrah and 15% Cinsault, hand-harvested and sorted in the field. 100% concrete tank to preserve the fresh, vibrant aromas and flavors. Like all Palon wines, this baby is impeccably balanced and elegant. The Syrah adds hints of dark spices and dark black fruit to the bright, spicy, minerally red fruit of the Grenache. But it is the finish that floors me… just super polished and refined… I’d swear I was drinking a $30 wine.
