New Reds

Côtes-du-Rhône Villages is made up of 18 villages consisting of 5,461 acres within the Cotes du Rhone area, and considered a higher quality A.O.C than the Cotes du Rhone.

2014 Domaine de Mongillon Cotes du Rhone Villages, France
On Sale $11.99…Lowest Price in the country!!!
Delectable cherry notes with hints of herbes de Provence, this wine shows good structure and is not at all heavy… an easy-drinking wine vinified in stainless steel and cement tanks to retain its fresh and fruity character.
Winery Notes

“Visan which enjoys one of the higher vineyard altitudes in the Côtes du Rhône. The wines from Visan’s windswept vineyards are generally described as lively and fresh, presenting full ripeness and great balance.”
Importer Notes

Costières de Nîmes is an A.O.C. for wines near the ancient city of Nîmes close to the western Rhône delta. Ventoux uses most of the same grapes found in the Cotes du Rhone.

2014 Chateau Cornut Costieres de Nimes, France
On Sale $10.99
Half Syrah, half Grenache… juicy plum and cherry flavors spiced with juicy roasted herbs and pepper, this wine is distinguished by its polished, savory texture and a full, rich finish. The wine is aged in stainless steel and cement. Most of the 200-plus acres in production are characterized by ancient riverbed soils, similar to what is found in Châteauneuf-du-Pape.

“The Perrin family continues to produce some of the top wines, at numerous price points, in the southern Rhône.”
The Wine Advocate

Perrin Rose2015 Famille Perrin Cotes du Rhone Reserve Rose, France
On Sale $8.99
2015 was a magnificent year in the south as well thanks to the mild, wet winter, followed by a relatively hot, dry spring. Following satisfactory flowering, rapid and regular ripening was assisted by rain that fell in August, producing berries rich in flavor. A blend of Grenache, Syrah, Mouvedre, and Cinsault, this is a classic rose for the region with pleasant strawberry, watermelon and tea notes.

It’s a smoking value and readers looking for a high quality, mid-week drinker that has loads of charm need to buy a case.
The Wine Advocate

“Domaine de la Mordoree ranks as one of the most impeccably, precisely run estates…”
The Wine Advocate

2014 Domaine de la Mordoree Cotes du Rhone, France
On Sale $15.99
A blend of 40% Grenache, 30% Syrah, and the rest Cinsault, Carignan, and Counoise… this wine shows some dark plum notes intermixed with raspberry, kirsch, and licorice. An impecably balanced wine, this is always one of the best values of vintage.
Merch Notes

“Guigal is the axis upon which the Rhône rests, a producer whose wines transcend all levels.”
The Wine Advocate

2011 E. Guigal Cotes du Rhone Rouge, France
On Sale $13.99
(49% Syrah, 46% Grenache, 5% Mourvedre) Smoky cherry and blueberry aromas display very good clarity and a touch of cracked pepper…sappy black and blue fruit flavors sharpened by a spicy nuance. A sexy floral note comes up on a gently tannic finish that lingers with very good persistence. As usual, this wine punches well above its category.
