Saturday, April 21
12 to 4pm
In our Event Space
Regardless of us experiencing all four seasons this month, we’re ready to drink pink!! Come on by Saturday and load up on brilliant, new “patio pinkies” (TM The Wine Merchant LTD.), along with a few delicious red Burgundies.
2017 Rio Madre Rosato, Rioja D.O.
On Sale $ 9.99
It is not easy to find Rioja this well-made at this price point, as most of them are at least twice the price! Deeply colored with loads of cherry, blood orange and spice. Wonderfully complex and perfect with grilled meats of any kind! We love this one in place of red wines in the summer heat.
2017 Bodegas Muga Rosato, Rioja D.O.
On Sale $14.99
The palest of pink almost copper in color. Peaches, tart cherries and still intensely minerally and peppery. Bone dry and SO refreshing. Sunshine in a glass here!
2017 Bodegas Borsao Rosato, Campo de Borja D.O.
On Sale $8.99
Rose petal color with a great nose of watermelon and all manner of crushed red fruits! Juicy and a touch rich. This begs for salad courses and appetizers with fresh goat cheese. Crisp and dry on the finish with some pleasant, fresh herbs to add complexity.
2017 Domaine de Cassagnau “Le Rose de Cassagnau,” Vin d Pays d’Oc
On Sale $7.99
This is a brand new addition to annual rose selection! A unique bland of Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec. Hailing from the south of France and bringing with it a pale pink hue and a ton of charterer for an incredible price. Tart cherries, raspberries and an exotic floral note as well. Super fresh and full of mineral on the finish…..YUM!!!!
2017 Chateau Revelette Rose Coteaux d’Aix en Provence AOP
On Sale $16.99
Pale salmon-pink color. Subtle and complex with aromas of apricots, elderflower liqueur, white peach and fresh cut herbs. An awesome example of Provencal rose… pure and round, with fresh acidity giving it a delicate, light touch. Offers sneaky mineral and even a note of tannin. More about terroir than ripe fruit. This begs for some great olives, cheese and salty cured meats.
Bonus 2015 Burgundies….Magic in Marsannay with Domaine Bruno Clair!
Poor Marsannay, no Grand Cru vineyards so folks just race on by to get to Gevrey Chambertin….big mistake! These are gorgeous wines that evoke the terroir of their neighbors and at a fraction of the price. In fact, Marsannay is the ONLY village in all of Burgundy that can produce red, white, and rosé at the village level (all other villages must label rosé as Bourgogne!). Come taste and see why we’re so in love!
2015 Domaine Bruno Clair “Grasses Tetes,” Marsannay AOP
On Sale $56.99
Here the nose is quite similar to that of the Vaudenelles if perhaps not quite as pretty though there is more volume, punch and structure to the medium weight flavors that terminate in a more complex, firmer and mildly rustic finish. There is more here but at the same time this is going to require several more years of bottle age before it will be ready for prime time.
88-91 Points, Burghound
2015 Domaine Bruno Clair “Source des Roches,” Marsannay Blanc AOP
On Sale $42.99
This 100% Chardonnay is sourced from vines the Domaine planted in 1980, 1986, 1990. The tiny parcels are all found in the village of Marsannay, on southeast-facing slopes with solid limestone bedrock. The vines are organically farmed too! Direct pressing, cold-settling, indigenous yeast for the alcoholic fermentation and done in barrel (40% new) with full malolactic fermentaion. After that it’s time for 16 months aging in barrel. This should be twice the price. It’s so money.
