23 May Tommasi Rompicollo
The Rompicollo is one of our favorite wines for pairing with pizza and pasta for weeknight dinners, and it also works well with grilled meats. It’s a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Sangiovese. The wine has a very modest price tag, but offers just a hint of something rich and opulent in the arena of Amarone.
2013 Tommasi Poggio al Tufo “Rompicollo,” Toscana
On Sale $14.99
Tommasi Poggio al Tufo’s 2013 Rompicollo is a Tuscan blend of Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon. The wine opens to deep, rich nuances with black cherry, plum and red currant. It also shows evident oak influences with cinnamon and dark vanilla stick that sit heavy over the dark fruit. Rompicollo delivers sweet tannins and simple lines overall. This is an easy-drinking red to enjoy in the near term.
