This fun tasting will feature undiscovered wines from around the US! Everyone’s tried domestic Cabernets and Chardonnays and Pinot Noirs, but this collection features under-represented grapes and blends, some from unexpected regions of the US.
NV Gruet Blanc de Blancs “Sauvage,” New Mexico
On Sale $14.99
100% Chardonnay. No Dosage. Gruet Sauvage NV is a bone-dry sparkler, pale straw in color with a delicate but persistent mousse. The minerally aromas and flavors of bright citrus pair well with oysters, sushi and cream sauces.
2015 Red Tail Ridge Riesling “RTR Estate Vineyard,” Fingerlakes, New York
On Sale $16.99
Slight brininess on the nose followed by yellow apple, sweet lemon, Bosc pear and li¬ed -oral notes. On the palate, the wine continues with lemon curd and fresh apple, with a rounded mouthfeel throughout. Minerality comes mid-palate, coupled with brisk acidity for a clean finish.
2013 Lang and Reed Cabernet Franc
On Sale $24.99
This winery has specialized in Cabernet Franc for 20 years, and seems to have kicked up the concentration in recent vintages. This potent wine was tight and tannic when first opened, but developed nicely over 24 hours. It has a smoky, peppery element in the aroma that segues to dark berry flavors. It will improve through at least 2019.

2015 Crossfork Creek Merlot, Yakima Valley, Washington
On Sale $17.99
A big, sexy Merlot that’s loaded with notions of cassis, saddle leather, cedary spice and toasty oak, the 2015 Merlot from Scott Greer is medium to full-bodied, ripe, rounded and savory on the palate, with fine tannin showing on the finish. Drink this St. Emilion look-alike over the coming 4-6 years.

2012 Tablas Creek “Espirit de Tablas” Red, Paso Robles
On Sale $52.99
A big, explosive wine, the 2012 Esprit de Tablas is warm and ample on the palate, very much in the style of the year, yet there is plenty of power lying in reserve. In 2012, Syrah plays a larger role than in both the 2010 and 2011, which is felt in the wine broad, expansive personality. This is going to be a fascinating Esprit to follow over the coming years.
93-95 Points, Antonio Galloni
2014 B Cellars Blend 24, Napa Valley
On Sale $48.99
For starters, the 2014 Proprietary Red 24 (68% Sangiovese, 19% Merlot and 13% Cabernet Sauvignon) is a terrific value in sumptuous, delicious Napa fruit. The wine has a dark plum/ruby/purple color, a big sweet kiss of almost Mediterranean spices intermixed with blackberry, cassis and black cherry. It is supple, opulent, fleshy and extremely sexy on the palate. This is a beauty to drink now or over the next 5-7 years. Napa certainly needs more wines like this creative blend that sells at a realistic price and delivers oodles of both hedonistic and intellectual pleasure.
