09 Jun “Volcano Wine” Tasting Tues. 6/13
Mount Etna Tasting
With Salvino Benanti
Tuesday, June 13
5 to 7pm
In our Event Space
We are thrilled to welcome special guest Salvino Benanti of the historic Sicilian winery Benanti! This is the family that put Etna wines on the map. Using vineyards owned by the family for hundreds of years, the family revived the winery in 1988, and they have since produced a series of gorgeous wines that blend modern winemaking techniques with ancient farming traditions. When you hear “Etna,” you think of the volcano, which is one of things that makes these wines so interesting. The volcanic soil imparts a specific character to the grapes grown in the region, and therefore the wine. Salvino Benanti will lead you through a tasting of these “volcano wines” and tell stories about his family’s winemaking history.
“Benanti’s winemaking history is synonymous with Etna winemaking history. In fact, the hard work and excellent wines produced at this historic winery are what catapulted this unknown part of Sicily to the enological forefront some 15 years ago. Benanti’s wines are among the best made on the volcano today.”
