In our Event Space

This Saturday we’re opening some stunning wines and pairing them with the ULTIMATE accompaniment, FREE hot and spicy fried chicken from Gus’s! This is your first opportunity of the year to sample the most compelling, bone dry Rieslings to come into the state. We’re also debuting Grand Cru vineyards from Switzerland! Many of these are so rare that we’re limited to ONE sample bottle so get here while the chicken’s hot and the Riesling’s cold!

2016 Domaine Jean-René Germanier Fendant Balavaud Vétroz Grand Cru (Switzerland)
On Sale $32.99
From black schist soils, the 2016 Fendant Balavaud Vétroz Grand Cru offers a rich and intensely fruity but also subtle, complex and fresh bouquet of mandarins and crushed slate with this inimitable floral and slightly flinty touch. The wine is full-bodied, round, elegant, vital and fresh, provided with a persistently salty-mineral structure and a long, aromatic and pretty powerful finish.

2016 Stagård Riesling “Steiner Hund,” Kremsatal DAC (Austria)
On Sale $42.99
This is a white with an extremely lifted and aromatic character. Sliced lime and honeysuckle with tropical fruit. Full body, very dry and vivid. Stone and bone undertones. A refined and focused style. Dedicated winemaker here. Drink now.

2016 Weingut Leitz Riesling “Berg Roseneck-Katerloch,” Grosses Gewachs
On Sale $44.99
…this is a rich and lush yet elegant, piquant and expressive Rüdesheimer Riesling with dramatic mineral tension and grip on the palate. This Katerloch has many Mosel features but comes from hard rock quartzite soils with slate and clay mixtures. It is pure, tight, intense and rich and will develop enormously well over the years in the bottle. This is the purest and probably the finest Berg Roseneck I have tasted from Johannes Josef Leitz so far. The finish is complex, tight and endlessly salty, as if you were tasting Riesling on the rocks. On the other hand, this is so sensual…!

2016 Weingut Leitz Riesling “Berg Rottland-Hinterhaus,” Grosses Gewachs
On Sale $44.99
…a very bright citrus color followed by a clear and precise bouquet of ripe, concentrated Riesling and even raisin notes intermixed with flinty/mineral and herbal/spicy aromas. On the palate, this is a generous, lush, round, elegant and perfectly balanced Riesling with intense, beautifully ripe and concentrated fruit but also a fine tannin structure. It’s almost tropical on the palate, very long and piquant and could be the Rüdheimer answer to the Wehlener Sonnenuhr. The finish is round, lush and intense, very well structured, salty-mineral and very persistent.

2016 Weingut Leitz Riesling “Berg Schlossberg-Ehrenfels,” Grosses Gewachs
On Sale $49.99
Slightly exotic as always this is at once sleek, succulent and seriously mineral. Then the silky finish lifts off like a rocket bound for the outer solar system. Another of the great 2016s from Leitz. Drink now and for many years to come.
96 Points, James Suckling

2016 Willi Schaefer Riesling Auslese #11 “Graacher Domprobst,” Mosel
On Sale $69.99
…offers a very clear, super ripe but still healthy bouquet of perfectly ripe Riesling intermixed with flinty, slightly caramelly aromas. On the palate, this is a lithe yet complex, piquant, refreshingly mineral and highly elegant Domprobst Auslese that reveals a firm, tensioned structure in the long, salty, already stimulating finish.

2014 Von Winning ‘II’ Pinot Noir Trocken, Pfalz, Germany
On Sale $34.99
aline and alkaline notes on the nose presage the mouthwatering and stimulatingly mineral finish of this Pinot, which also brings veal stock savor mouthwateringly to bear on its abundance of ripe yet invigoratingly tart-edged dark berries. The feel is silken and the finish brightly juicy, displaying clarity and focus.
