28 Feb Alsace Tasting
Sunday, March 3
1 to 4pm
At the Bar
The Best of France tasting continues this Sunday with Alsace! We love Alsace. Seriously! This is one of the world’s greatest white wine regions, and yet it gets very little attention. Well, let’s change that! We have a stellar lineup from a new favorite producer, and experts on hand to taste with you and answer questions. We’ll sample Alsatian bubbles all the way up to Grand Cru. Yum!
Multi-vintage Domaine Jean-Louis et Fabienne Mann, Cremant d’Alsace AOP
On Sale $24.99
This is serious stuff. Crafted via traditional method (champenoise) with biodynamic farming, natural yeast fermentation, 100% in oak barrels, 48 months of aging sur lie. 50-50 Chard & Pinot a nose of brioche, dried apricots with floral and mineral hints. In the mouth it is delicious and invigorating, with delicate bubbles and a nice chalky finish. Very dry.
2017 Domaine Jean-Louis et Fabienne Mann Sylvaner “Mouton Bleu,” Alsace AOP
On Sale $17.99
I’ve yet to meet a Sylvaner that I haven’t liked, so I might be a bit biased, but this is really lovely stuff! Peach, apricot, almond and mineral are abundant in this beautifully layered, sexy Sylvaner. Gorgeous finish.
2015 Domaine Jean-Louis et Fabienne Mann Riesling “Vieilles Vignes,” Alsace AOP
On Sale $22.99
Delicate, Fresh, Vibrant, Aromatic with notes of pear, lemon and mineral. In the mouth its classically dry with great acidity, giving it juicy appeal. This will age really well.
2015 Domaine Jean-Louis et Fabienne Mann Riesling “Pfersigberg,” Alsace Grand Cru AOP
On Sale $34.99
This wine is all about purity. All manner of exotic citrus aromas and a touch of tropical fruit with smoky hints. Complex, mineral aromas with a distinct “Grand Cru” character. Very dry and penetrating in the mouth. Rock solid.
