New Zealand & Argentina Tasting

Saturday, July 16
12-4 P.M.
In Our Event Space

Join us as we celebrate the wines of the Southern Hemisphere this Saturday. We will sample a selection of wines from Argentina and New Zealand from Classique Wine & Spirits with Ramona Martin. Argentina has long been a great source of fantastic reds and whites, but especially Malbec, a grape that originated in Bordeaux, France. New Zealand has been linked with Sauvignon Blanc, another grape from Bordeaux, for more than a decade with their distinctive grassy, grapefruit-y wines.

2008 Yacochuya Malbec, Saltayacochuya

2013 Fabre Montmayou Reserva Cabernet Franc, Mendoza
On Sale $14.99
Intense red color. Exuberant nose with red and black fruit aromas and a hint of mint. On the palate it is fresh and well balanced, with a long finish and round tannins.
Importer’s Notes

2014 Durigutti Malbec Clasico, Mendoza
On Sale $14.99
A spicy red with red pepper and berry character. Medium body, pretty fruit and a delicious finish. Just being itself and delicious. Drink now.
90 Points, James Suckling

2015 Durigutti Bonarda Clasico, Mendoza
On Sale $14.99
Lush and spicy ripe-fruit driven nose, with a broad, fairly explosive palate of red cherry, plum, chocolate, and mint. Bright, refreshing acidity holds everything together and makes this an excellent choice with spicy foods.
Importer’s Notes

2015 Spy Valley Sauvignon Blanc, Waiaru Valley Marlborough
On Sale $16.99
Bright light yellow. Ripe aromas of mirabelle and ginger, plus hints of tropical fruits. Spicy, broad and rather dry on the palate, offering melon and tropical fruit hints. This nicely concentrated wine is kept fresh by unabsorbed CO2 and good spicy lift.
89 Points, Vinous Media

2015 Ned Pinot Gris, Marlborough
On Sale $12.99
The Ned 2014 Pinot Gris delivers up layers of ginger spice and ripe persimmon flavour, with the persistent floral lift of old fashioned roses. Extended skin contact on a selection of the ripest fruit parcels is essential for promoting the signature coral pink colour of the Ned Pinot Gris. Equally important is the positive effect this technique has on enhancing the wine’s overall richness and mouth feel, providing the perfect counterpoint to the fine and slightly drying tannin texture that dominates the long, spicy finish.
