30 Jun Austria & Bordeaux Tasting
Austria & Bordeaux Tasting
Saturday, July 2
12 to 4pm
In our Event Space
Join us on Saturday as we sample Bordeaux from Misa Imports along with Austrians from Terry Theise. With summer in full swing, these Austrian whites will be the perfect remedy for those steamy evenings and afternoons. On the other end of the spectrum, Bordeaux makes a surprisingly wonderful accompaniment to grilled meats and BBQ spices. These are stock up wines, so let us put together a six pack or case to get you through the long, hot summer!
2014 Nigl Sauvignon Blanc, Kremstal
On Sale $29.99
Another SB-for-people-who-love-Riesling, this is ripe but exceedingly refined, more Pouilly than Sancerre; classic but with impeccable reserve; it reminds me of Hexamer’s. I can barely recall a more insinuating, interesting and tasty SB. Really grown- up and long, and not clamorous. How often do “finesse” and “Sauv-Blanc” appear in the same sentence?
Importer Terry Theise
2014 Nikolaihof Gruner Veltliner Hefeabzug, Wachau
On Sale $23.99
Funky notes of yeast still dominate the nose, but there is an abundance of yellow, juicy pear and Russet apple once they blow off, framed by citrus freshness and underlined with a yeasty savoriness that recalls slightly pungent herbs like watercress and arugula. The finish is ultra clean.

2014 Brundlmeyer Riesling Terrassen Kamptal
On Sale $21.99
Crisp apple, fresh lemon and honeydew melon-all strongly marked by the tartness and bite of their rinds-inform a spare, intense palate and a refreshingly juicy finish.
2011 Chateau Bellevue Claribes, Bordeaux
On Sale $10.99
This Château Bellevue Claribes shows a luscious, deep crimson color. On the nose, red and black fruits mingle with a dash of spice. This balanced wine offers remarkably pleasant, silky tannins that endow it with a charming, lengthy finish.
2010 Chateau Cassidouce, Blaye Cotes de Bordeaux
On Sale $10.99
Classic Bordeaux from a great vintage! Ripe, with good dark fruit, it sails across the palate with silky tannins. Pair it up with a well marbled cut of meat, prepared simply with a dash of salt and pepper and a little pan sauce.
2012 Château Malartic-Lagraviere, Pessac-Léognan AOC
On Sale $49.99
“The quality of the white and red have soared to exceptional heights, and this is certainly still one of the more realistically priced wines of Pessac-Lèognan and classified crus. The 2012 is a beauty, with a dense ruby/purple color, a fabulously plush, opulent texture and medium to full-bodied flavors of cassis, spicy earth and blueberry. Quite rich, yet light on its feet, this is an absolutely textbook Pessac-Lèognan, with wonderfully velvety tannins. Drink it now, or drink it in 25 years. This is a brilliant wine.”
