Cabernet Sauvignon Tasting
Sunday, August 7th
at the Bar
No other region in America is more famous for Cabernet Sauvignon than Napa Valley, but there are other areas that are producing great Cabs. Sonoma is historically one of California’s most important growing regions, and Paso Robles and Washington have also been on the upswing for high quality wine at a fraction of the prices of their Napa Counterparts. Here’s a chance to stock up on some of our favorite new value Cabernets! Come by and taste, 1-4 P.M. on Sunday.
2013 Forth Vineyards “Histoire,” Cabernet Sauvignon, Dry Creek Valley
On Sale $17.99
The 2013 harvest gifted us with near-perfect grapes bursting with flavor and tannins. As this wine is poured it delivers big, round aromas and flavors of black currants and dark cherry, toasty oak and cedar, wood smoke on the autumn air, and that wonderful hint of vineyard dust that makes us love Dry Creek Valley wines. Delightful now, but will be at its best between 2016 and 2022.
2013 True Myth Cabernet Sauvignon, Paso Robles
On Sale $16.99
Pure Paso Robles, this rich yet smooth Cabernet Sauvignon is loaded with elegant aromas of blackberry, blueberry, pepper and cassis which lead to flavors of dark red fruits with hints of cedar spice, cocoa powder and caramelized oak. These persistent flavors create a long lingering finish. While very accessible now, this wine will continue to evolve nicely for years to come.
2014 Crossfork Creek Cabernet Sauvignon, Yakima Valley
On Sale $17.99
The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon is our estate-grown Cabernet Sauvignon, aged for 20 months in seasoned French and American Oak barrels. The color is a rich and vibrant purple. The nose opens with rich dark fruits of blackberries, plums, and cassis. At first taste, you are struck by the rich texture that is accompanied by lush black fruits, spice, and anise, leading into a long finish that showcases the elegance yet power of a great Cabernet. This wine will age beautifully for 15+ years.
