01 Feb Barrel-Aged Cocktail Tasting Sat. 2/3
Saturday, February 3
1 to 4pm
At the Bar
We’ve got some great, handy-dandy options for you Manhattan fans out there! Have you tried one aged in cask? At first glance a “pre-made” cocktail might seem odd, but when produced using the finest ingredients and top notch whiskey, you get something special.
High West “36th Vote Barreled Manhattan”
….a Manhattan is the perfect mixed drink for the cold weather at this time of year. We used the pre-Prohibition recipe of two parts Rye Whiskey to one part sweet vermouth and two dashes of bitters. We then married the mixture in the rye whiskey’s American white oak barrel for 90 days, allowing the flavors to integrate in a well-balanced harmony of the rye’s spiciness, the vermouth’s herbs, and the bitters’ complexity. Serve Neat, On The Rocks, or Stirred and Strained with an orange or lemon garnish.
High West “The Barreled Boulevardier”
For High West’s Barreled Boulevardier, we mix Bourbon with sweet vermouth and Gran Classico®, a bitter amaro from Switzerland. We marry the mixture in American oak Bourbon barrels where it rests until it reaches perfection. Serve either over ice, or stir on ice and strain into a cocktail glass. Garnish with a twist of orange or lemon zest…and then sit back and enjoy a sip of the good life.
