01 Nov California Tasting Sat. 11/4
Saturday, November 4
12 to 4pm
In Our Event Space
The recent wildfires in California caused a lot of damage that will take years to assess and repair. We think this is a good time to highlight wines of California and try to bring some revenue to an area that needs it. This collection represents some delicious whites and a series of Cabernets that are classic Cali.
2015 Slo Down Wines Broken Dreams Chardonnay
On Sale $16.99
This wine will immediately consume you as it takes you and your taste buds on a magical journey. Aromas of juicy stone fruit, buttered toast and yellow apple lead to flavors of pear, brioche and meyer lemon all wrapped up in a rich, velvety blanket of goodness.
NV Orin Swift Locations “CA4” White Blend
On Sale $15.99
(Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Viognier and Roussane) Immediately, a nose of lemon zest, citrus, and a touch of honey lead to a bright and crisp entry complemented by an encompassing nectar mouth feel. A ripe stone fruit mid palate of apricots and peaches combine with an evolving crème custard coating. It finishes with a subtle minerality and a lychee texture, making this an ideal summertime wine.
2015 Rabble Cabernet Sauvignon
On Sale $18.99
Magic happened in the vineyards for our Cabernet Sauvignon. Balanced and precise as soon as the bottle is opened. Notes of fresh mint and ginger snap give way to dark currants and blackberry tart. Cedar and cooking spices bring the savory notes to balance the bold fruit. Lively and supple tannins deliver the final note that continues to play long after the last drink.
2016 Daou Cabernet Sauvignon
On Sale $26.99
Just bottled, the 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon is another outstanding wine. Black currants, licorice, charcoal and lead pencil notes all flow to a full-bodied, silky, polished and elegant Cabernet that’s a delicious drink. Like the 2015, it was aged 11 months in 60% new French oak.
91 Points, Jeb Dunnuck
2013 Keenan Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley
On Sale $47.99
The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon is deep and powerful from the get go, with beams of supporting tannin and acidity that give the wine its sense of proportion. There is plenty of nuance in the dark fruit, along with terrific aromatic complexity, but today the tannins are imposing, to say the least. Readers should be prepared to cellar the 2013 for at least a few years, but even that may not be enough. This is another terrific example of the vintage.
93+ Points, Antonio Galloni
2015 The Crane Assembly “El Coco” (from Dave Phinney)
On Sale $72.99
Bold and concentrated, the 2015 El Coco is abundant in a ripe dark fruit continuum—black plums and boysenberry compote—and a hint of meatiness and toffee. Energetic and rich on the palate, the wine radiates with dark stone fruits, cinnamon and fresh Madagascar vanilla. With a nice balance of acidity, tannin and fruit, the El Coco begins to soften and finishes with length.
