Multi Vintage Champagne Moutard Brut “Grand Cuvee”
On Sale $29.99
I was quite taken with the wines I tasted from Moutard this year. The NV Brut Grande Cuvee (Pinot Noir) emerges from the glass with high-toned notes of Mirabelle plums, kirsch, crushed flowers and sweet herbs. There is an exotic quality to the Grande Cuvee that is totally beguiling. Intensely aromatic and layered through to the finish, the Grande Cuvee impresses for its delicate, feminine personality and overall balance.

Multi Vintage Champagne Hure Freres Brut Rose “Insouciance”
On Sale $49.99
Based on 2013, plus 30% réserve wines, the pale pink-colored NV Rosé Brut Insouciance is an assemblage of 35% Pinot Meunier, 40% Pinot Noir and 25 % Chardonnay. The wine opens with a clear and refreshing bouquet of small red fruits on chalk and indicates a lovely purity. Very crisp and pure on the palate, this light Rosé reveals a lovely precision and comes along with a lean, mineral character with delicate fruit. Excellent.

Multi Vintage Champagne Le Mesnil Brut Blanc de Blancs
On Sale $39.99
Lightly chalky, with hints of pastry, poached pear and candied lemon zest running through. Offers a firm bead and a mouthwatering finish.

2014 Domaine Dublere Savigny-Les-Beaune 1er Cru Blanc “Les Vergelesses”
On Sale $42.99
A mild touch of reduction shaves the top notes from the citrus and floral-scented nose. Otherwise there is excellent detail and vibrancy to the medium-bodied and lightly stony flavors that terminate in a dry, clean and focused finish. This saline-inflected effort should reward 4 to 7 years of cellaring if desired.

2016 Jean-Marc Burgaud Beaujolais Villages “Le Vignes de Thulon”
On Sale $12.99
This 100% Gamay comes from fifty year old vines on the deep granite slopes in the village of Lantignié. In our opinion this humble villages level wine crushes many Cru (the next level up in this region) Beaujolais! This one had boat loads more concentration and complexity than one would expect. Its refreshing red/blue fruit attack is followed by darker fruit and savory undertones. The tannin are ripe and plentiful suggesting this will age well. Delicious!

2015 Domaine Adelie Mercurey 1er Cru “Les Champs Martin”
On Sale $39.99
This is at once riper but also more complex with good density to the red and dark currant, earth and violet aromas. The density continues on the delicious and caressing middle weight flavors that conclude in a lingering and balanced finish that is both youthfully austere and rustic.

2015 Maison Benjamin Leroux Gevrey-Chambertin
On Sale $66.99
Good medium red. Inviting, wonderfully expressive Gevrey aromas and flavors of raspberry, plum, redcurrant, spices, coffee and underbrush; shows a sexy liqueur-like richness. Then wonderfully silky and sweet, boasting excellent intensity and inner-mouth dried flower lift. Finishes with suave, fine-grained, late-arriving tannins and juicy lingering red fruits. Should make a very suave village wine.

Bonus!!!! We’re also tasting smoked scallops with owner & pitmaster Bill Eastman of Billy Q! These little gems are delicious, smoky goodness. Perfect for the holidays too! Due to the labor in preparing them they’ll only be available by pre-order throughout December (but we’ll have some available on Saturday!). Come on by and taste why we’re so excited!
