We are excited to host Mitch Boyd of Napa Valley’s Chappellet Winery for a special tasting! Owners of one of the most prestigious vineyard sites in California, Pritchard Hill, Chappellet always crafts magnificent wines.
More about Chappellet:
The Chappellet family’s romance with Pritchard Hill started more than four decades ago when Donn and Molly Chappellet first glimpsed its magnificent vista of forests and wildflower-filled meadows. Inspired by the notion that Bacchus loves the hills, the Chappellets followed the advice of renowned winemaker André Tchelistcheff and settled on Pritchard Hill’s rocky slopes, becoming the first winery to plant vineyards exclusively on high-elevation hillsides. From these Pritchard Hill vineyards, the Chappellets have been crafting extraordinary, age-worthy wines since 1967.
2013 Chappellet Chenin Blanc, Napa Valley
On Sale $29.99
Elegant and lively, this mountain-grown Chenin Blanc displays a complex and alluring nose of lychee, orange blossom, peach, apricot, lemongrass and white pepper. On the palate, excellent acidity adds precision to vibrant notes of fresh citrus and minerality that carry though to a crisp, focused finish.
2013 Chappellet Chardonnay, Napa Valley
On Sale $31.99
With lovely ripeness and definition, as well as fresh, lively acidity, this Chardonnay shows the exceptional quality of the 2013 vintage. Enticing fruit layers of Meyer lemon, apple, pineapple and nectarine rise from the glass, underscored by hints of nutmeg, butter, cinnamon and orange blossom. On the palate, zesty -flavors of orange and Key lime are complemented by rich oak-inspired notes of vanilla, crème fraîche, caramel and brioche that carry through to a long, satisfying finish.
2014 Chappellet Mountain Cuvee, Napa Valley
On Sale $27.99
The aromas are rich and enticing, with concentrated layers of blueberry and blackberry, as well as notes of baking spice and toasted wood from aging in French oak barrels. Subtle hints of dark chocolate, bay leaf and black pepper round out the aromas. On the plush, rich palate, this wine is immediately hedonistic and satisfying. Mouthcoating avors of black cherry and cassis are layered with clove and vanilla, while integrated tannins give balance and structure to this complex blend of Bordeaux varietals.
2012 Chappellet Cabernet Franc, Napa Valley
On Sale $65.99
Dark red cherries, plums, smoke, mocha, pine and tobacco are all laced together in the 2012 Cabernet Franc. Dark, powerful and intense, the 2012 shows the more brooding side of the vintage. Chappellet’s Cabernet Franc is more of a wine of place than of variety, partly because it is best described as a Cabernet Franc-based blend. Firm tannins support the muscular finish, but there is more than enough fruit to provide balance. Savory herbs and floral overtone add the final layers of complexity. In 2012 the blend includes 7% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Merlot, 6% Petit Verdot and 4% Malbec.

2013 Chappellet Cabernet Sauvignon “Signature,” Napa Valley (Very limited)
On Sale $57.99
The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Signature from Chappellet, a blend of 79% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Malbec and the rest Merlot and Petit Verdot, is a stunner. Moreover, it’s a pretty realistic value for a top-notch Cabernet from California. Of course, it’s a great vintage and they’ve nailed it. Deep ruby/purple color, notes of blueberry, blackberry, with cassis, camphor and spring flowers, the wine is full-bodied, powerful (14.8% natural alcohol), layered with supple tannins and a long, long finish. This wine can be drunk now, or cellared for 25 or more years.
