We’re headed to Bordeaux in about a week so we thought it’d be a great opportunity to pull out all the stops (and the corks) on some of the best this legendary region has to offer. DO NOT miss out on this chance to taste and learn with the experts!

2017 Chateau Marjosse Blanc, Entre-deux-Mers AOP
On Sale $14.99
Château Marjosse Entre-Deux-Mers by Pierre Lurton is a powerful and complex wine which expresses exotic fruits. Pierre Lurton one of Bordeaux’s greatest wine makers! He produces Chateau Y’quem, Cheval Blanc and many other ultra-high end, luxury cuvees. Ripe and pungent with notes of peach, flowers and tropical fruits. Bright and juicy with flavors of grapefruit, spices, herbs and pepper. This linger nicely on the mouthcoating finish. A blend of 50% Sauvignon Blanc 25% Sémillon 15% and Sauvignon gris 10% Muscadelle.

2017 Château Thieuley Blanc, Bordeaux AOP

Bright, ripe and fruity, this is a rich wine. Full of apple and warm pear flavors, it is concentrated and intense. Touches of spice and pepper add to the poise of the Courselle sisters’ stylish, full wine. Drink now.

2016 Château Lamothe, Bordeaux AOP
On Sale $9.99
This is a ripe, rounded wine that displays fine tannins and a black fruit flavor that come together easily on the palate. It will age well and should be enjoyed from 2021.

2014 Château de la Cour d’Argent, Bordeaux Supérieur AOP
On Sale $12.99
Marked aromas of dark fruit and espresso. The palate is full and juicy on the attack but follows through to chewy tannins, walnut flavors and a long finish. Better in 2019.
90 points, James Suckling

2015 Chateau Fourcas Dupre, Listrac-Medoc AOP
On Sale $19.99
The 2015 Fourcas-Dupre offers plenty of blackberry and boysenberry fruit on the nose, a touch of brine here, a subtle marine influence that lends it complexity and personality. The palate is medium-bodied with a juicy opening, a melange of red and black fruit, taut and quite linear with plenty of freshness and tension on the finish. This is a well-crafted Listrac that punches well above my expectations. Hopefully it can retain this level after its élevage – one to keep an eye on.
91-93 points, The Wine Advocate

2015 Chateau Le Boscq, Saint-Estephe AOP
On Sale $36.99
Very spicy and fresh with floral and currant character. Full to medium body and regal structure and intensity. Chocolate, tea and berry flavors. Tannins are polished and focused. Excellent finish. Drink in 2021.
92 points James Suckling

2015 Chateau Fombrauge, Saint-Emilion Grand Cru AOP
On Sale $34.99
A vivid and bright red with plum and spice plus hints of cedar and sandalwood. Medium to full body, silky tannins and a flavorful finish. The plush tannins to this give it weight and opulence. Needs a year or two to soften.
94 points, James Suckling

2014 Chateau Suduiraut “Lions de Suduiraut,” Sauternes AOP
On Sale $14.99 (375ml only)
Packed with dry botrytis and delicious ripe fruit, this is a rich wine. It’s full of fruitiness and has a great core of sweet honey and balanced acidity. Dense and ripe, it’s just beginning its journey. Drink from 2022.

Saturday Part 2:
Leonard Wine Co./Muddy Arch

While it’s Bordeaux fever upstairs, at the bar we’re welcoming back our good friend and St. Louis native Chris Leonard to sample a few goodies from Leonard Wine Co./Muddy Arch!

2016 Muddy Arch Roussanne, California
On Sale $19.99
Our brand, Muddy Arch, examines the rarely planted Roussanne varietal from top Northern California vineyard sites to expose the nuances of these local microclimates. Producing our wines in a classic wine style by utilizing balanced Roussanne fruit that is less ripe rewards us with lean and precise white wines that express a spectrum of notes from pungent stone fruit to brimming citrus to a deep honey.

The Grenache Blanc varietal, a Muddy Arch limited release! Delicate notes of steel, slate, and nectarine fill the nose of the 2014 Snow Vineyard Grenache Blanc. 2016 Leonard Wine Co. “Lou’s Blend,” Sonoma County
On Sale $29.99
To produce elegant, vineyard designate Roussanne and Zinfandel wines of luxury and depth, we first and foremost farm concentrated fruit, and then pick early to retain varietal characters and site expression and to avoid high alcohol and overripe flavors. In the winery we carry out ‘old world’ fermentation techniques to impart stability and finesse, and ultimately develop a textural and structured framework by way of extended barrel aging on the lees and bottle aging before release. The result is a classic wine style offering a dense, full-length palate littered in mouthfeel and finishing with succulence all the while accompanied by a range of savory and fruity aromatics and flavors. Full of acid and texture our food wines marry cuisine beautifully.
