2017 Chateau Marjosse Blanc, Entre-deux-Mers AOP

Château Marjosse Entre-Deux-Mers by Pierre Lurton is a powerful and complex wine which expresses exotic fruits. Pierre Lurton one of Bordeaux’s greatest wine makers! He produces Chateau Y’quem, Cheval Blanc and many other ultra-high end, luxury cuvees. Ripe and pungent with notes of peach, flowers and tropical fruits. Bright and juicy with flavors of grapefruit, spices, herbs and pepper. This linger nicely on the mouthcoating finish. A blend of 50% Sauvignon Blanc 25% Sémillon 15% and Sauvignon gris 10% Muscadelle.

Marked aromas of dark fruit and espresso. The palate is full and juicy on the attack but follows through to chewy tannins, walnut flavors and a long finish. Better in 2019.

2015 Chateau Fourcas Dupre, Listrac-Medoc AOP

The 2015 Fourcas-Dupre offers plenty of blackberry and boysenberry fruit on the nose, a touch of brine here, a subtle marine influence that lends it complexity and personality. The palate is medium-bodied with a juicy opening, a melange of red and black fruit, taut and quite linear with plenty of freshness and tension on the finish. This is a well-crafted Listrac that punches well above my expectations. Hopefully it can retain this level after its élevage – one to keep an eye on.

Very spicy and fresh with floral and currant character. Full to medium body and regal structure and intensity. Chocolate, tea and berry flavors. Tannins are polished and focused. Excellent finish. Drink in 2021.

A vivid and bright red with plum and spice plus hints of cedar and sandalwood. Medium to full body, silky tannins and a flavorful finish. The plush tannins to this give it weight and opulence. Needs a year or two to soften.

To produce elegant, vineyard designate Roussanne and Zinfandel wines of luxury and depth, we first and foremost farm concentrated fruit, and then pick early to retain varietal characters and site expression and to avoid high alcohol and overripe flavors. In the winery we carry out ‘old world’ fermentation techniques to impart stability and finesse, and ultimately develop a textural and structured framework by way of extended barrel aging on the lees and bottle aging before release. The result is a classic wine style offering a dense, full-length palate littered in mouthfeel and finishing with succulence all the while accompanied by a range of savory and fruity aromatics and flavors.
