NV Orin Swift Locations CA White, California (Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Viognier, Roussanne)
On Sale $16.99
The inaugural release of Locations California White stays true to the philosophy and heart of our international winemaking project. Simple. Complex. Fun. We aim to showcase the best of each Location we work with. Successfully having crafted a red wine that highlights the best of the golden state, we went back to our growers in Napa, Sonoma and Mendocino and procured Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Viognier, and Roussanne that we had been intrigued by in our travels. By sourcing from these three premier regions, using a combination of oak barrel and stainless steel fermentations, and blending the components just so, we were able to craft a white wine of excellent quality and character, which perfectly reflects the diversity and potential of California. Winemakers Notes Immediately, a nose of lemon zest, citrus, and a touch of honey lead to a bright and crisp entry complemented by an encompassing nectar mouth feel. A ripe stone fruit mid palate of apricots and peaches combine with an evolving crème custard coating. It finishes with a subtle minerality and a lychee texture, making this an ideal summertime wine.

2014 Calera Central Coast Pinot Noir
On Sale $24.99
Readers looking for a classic, incredibly well made Pinot Noir to buy by the case should look no further than Josh’s 2014 Pinot Noir from the Central Coast AVA. Supple, sexy, seamless and elegant, with classic Calera notes of raspberries, mulled cherries, spice and dried soil, it has no hard edges, a core of sweet fruit and a beautiful finish that keeps you coming back to the glass. I’m sure it will keep for 4-5 years (probably longer), but there’s no need to delay gratification. Don’t miss this fabulous effort and bravo to the Calera team for delivering this level of quality at the price. Drink: 2016 – 2021.

2013 Calluna Vineyards “Calluna Vineyards Cuvee,” (CVC) Chalk Hill
On Sale $24.99
The 2013 Calluna Vineyards Cuvée performs much like the Estate 2012 and 2013. It is younger, fresher, denser and with more upside potential, but is more closed. Nevertheless it is incredibly promising, shows a dense ruby/purple color, loads of cassis and black cherry fruit with some floral notes. This is a beauty to drink over the next 10-15 years, but I’d give this particular wine another 2-3 years of bottle age.

2014 Pride Merlot, Central Coast
On Sale $54.99
Pride’s 2014 Merlot is nicely lifted and aromatically expressive. Bright red stone fruit and floral notes are two of the signatures. This is a decidedly feminine, gracious Merlot. Soft tannins add to the wine’s considerable near and medium term appeal.

2014 Sivas-Sonoma Cabernet Sauvignon, Sonoma
On Sale $19.99
Our 2014 Sivas-Sonoma Cabernet Sauvignon opens beautifully with dark fruit, caramelized oak and dustings of dried cocoa. Deep scarlet in color, this full-bodied Sonoma County Cabernet offers toasted vanilla, boysenberry and dried cherry flavors while maintaining a classical structure. Bold and elegant, this wine thrives on the opportunity to be opened immediately or laid down for future enjoyment. Our Cabernet Sauvignon pairs perfectly with a rosemary marinated rib eye steak and roasted tomato and arugula salad.

Tasting Part Two: Spoonbill from New Zealand

We are excited about these very small production wines from Spoonbill. This winery is a project by husband and wife team Dave and Chris Eatwell, who own the Rawari Vineyard (the steepest vineyard in Marlborough, New Zealand!!). Dave’s winemaking background is heavily influenced by Burgundy and the wines are Burgundian in style. Chris is a St. Louis native, so the couple splits their time between here and New Zealand. The winery’s total annual production is less than 400 cases! This will be a real treat.

2012 Spoonbill Pinot Noir Rawiri Estate (6 barrels produced!)
