Wednesday, August 10th
5-7 P.M.
At the Bar

faillaJoin Failla National Sales Manager Brian Miracle on Wednesday, August 10th to sample wines from the cool Sonoma Coast and Anderson Valley. Failla winemaker Ehren Jordan has been a passionate advocate for cool climate fruit. Taking his cue from Burgundy, he crafts elegant wines that taste of a place, not a process. The Occidental Ridge is a pre-sell, and the Sonoma Coast wines will be in on Wednesday. If you can’t make it, we will gladly set some aside for you.

2014 Failla Chardonnay, Sonoma Coast
On Sale $32.99
The 2014 Chardonnay (Sonoma Coast) is round, soft and nicely layered throughout. Dried pear, sage, mint, rosemary and dried flowers meld together in an effortless, gracious Chardonnay that will drink well upon release. The Sonoma Coast is mostly a young vines bottling.

2014 Failla Chardonnay Haynes Vineyard, Coombsville
On Sale $56.99
The 2014 Chardonnay Haynes Vineyard, from a site in Coombsville, is endowed with a real sense of crystalline purity and nuance. Orange blossom, mint, spice, wild flowers and honey are some of the notes that take shape. A wine of exceptional purity and nuance, the 2014 impresses with its sublime balance. The 2014 Pinot Noir (Sonoma Coast) is a fabulous wine at this level. Sweet spices, rose petal, mint and succulent cherry/plum notes all lift from the glass. 2014 Failla Pinot Noir Keefer Ranch Vineyard, Russian River Valley
On Sale $49.99
The 2014 Pinot Noir Keefer Ranch is soft, perfumed and very pretty. Drink this mid-weight, delicate Pinot over the next few years. Next to the other wines in the lineup, the Keefer doesn’t quite offer the same degree of complexity or pedigree. Overall, this is a typical expression of the Russian River.

2014 Failla Pinot Noir Savoy Vineyard, Anderson Valley
On Sale $56.99
The 2014 Pinot Noir Savoy Vineyard exudes Anderson Valley intensity. Beams of tannin and acidity give the Savoy its length, energy and vibrancy. The Savoy is not an especially obvious wine, but it sure is delicious. Give the 2014 a few years to soften. This is another fabulous Pinot from Failla. The firm, structured style will appeal most to readers with more classically leaning palates. Pomegranate, sweet red cherry/plum and wild flowers add the closing shades of nuance.

2014 Failla Pinot Noir Occidental Ridge Vineyard, Sonoma Coast
On Sale $56.99
The 2014 Pinot Noir Occidental Ridge Vineyard is undeniably attractive, but it also seems to say everything it has to say at the outset. Dark red cherry, plum, spice and menthol open up in a Pinot that offers a compelling combination of flavor intensity but with no excess weight. This is an especially supple, forward style.
