28 Apr French Wines from Peter Weygandt
Peter Weygandt Sale
From one of our favorite importers, Peter Weygandt, here are four AWESOME selections. The Plouzeau Touraine is one of our bestselling Sauvignon Blancs year after year. The Á Coté is one of the most delightful Rhone blends we’ve found, and it contains Merlot for a very specific reason. When Charvin found out Americans were eschewing Merlot after the movie Sideways, he set out to make a Merlot blend that everyone would love, and he named it “Á Coté,” or “sideways.” And of course because it’s rosé season, these are two very different but very delicious rosés, one dark and one light.
2014 Domaine Plouzeau Touraine, Loire Valley, France
On Sale $13.99
Domaine Plouzeau is situated on the “rive gauche” of Chinon. The vineyards are all certified organic, and low yields combined with vinification directed towards emphasizing fruit produces a fresh fruit blast on the palate. The wines are bottled unfiltered to preserve the maximum fruit levels.
2013 Domaine Charvin “Á Coté” Vin de Pays Principaute d’Orange, Rhone, France

This Grenache-Merlot from Peter Weygandt Selections way over-delivers. Flavors of plum and black cherry mix with notes of tobacco and lavender on the finish. A delightful everyday drinker from one of the best Chateauneuf producers!
