Frias Reds

25 Apr Frias Reds

We’ve been in a bit of a love affair with this winery since we started working with their Cabernet blend “Topografia” last year. Now we’ve brought in two more awesome estate reds that we think over-deliver at $40. Wines like this, made with all mountain fruit, usually go for well over $100, so these really are incredible bargains.

Bright perfumed nose with aromas of candied black cherry, raspberry, cinnamon, vanilla spice, and lavender. On the palate, raspberry, pomegranate, black cherry, with notes of violet and oregano.

2013 Frias Syrah, Oak Knoll District
On Sale $39.99 (lowest price online!)
This beauty has aromas of brown sugar and cinnamon, with a savory palate of black pepper, dark cocoa, smoky meats, and black cherry. The finish is long and persistent.

2013 Frias Topografia Red Blend, Spring Mountain District
On sale $42.99 (lowest price online!)
(Blend of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Merlot, 10% Syrah, 10% Cabernet Franc)
This lovely blend is like Bordeaux meets Napa. It’s earthy and complex, with a good balance of fruit and acid on the finish. Notes of black currant, raspberry, and sandalwood blend harmoniously into a finish with hints of pepper and spices. Spring Mountain wines are usually much more expensive. This is a steal!
