16 Aug Italian Bubbles Tasting
Sunday, August 19
1 to 4pm
At the Bar
This Sunday we’re going to taste some very unique new bubbles from Northern Italy! We’ve got a “declassified” Lambrusco that’s fun and intriguing and a new totally natural sparkler that is funky, cloudy, and delicious!
NV Randi “Il Ramba” Spumante Brut, IGT
On Sale $20.99
This exotic little sparkler is made from Famoso, an indigenous white grape varietal from Emilia Romagna. Deeply golden in color with a delicately aromatic nose of white flowers, cinnamon, ruby-red grapefruit, and peppery herbs. In the mouth there’s an interesting richness, with a peppery complexity to the white flower and ripe white peach flavors. Finishes juicy and tart, with a youthful feel. This would be amazing with a prosciutto and melon salad or beef carpaccio!
2016 Medici Ermete “Reggiano Solo” IGT
On Sale $15.99
Fully saturated ruby-purple with a persistent foam. Discreet aromas of blue and black small berries with hints of minerals and flowers. Clean and crisp, with juicy flavors similar to the aromas. This 50/50 blend of Lambrusco Salamino and Ancellotta finishes long with a touch of tannic bite, which is absolutely typical of Ancellotta. The latter grape is one of Italy’s darkest colored and so are its wines. This sparkler will match well not just with grilled foods but to a complex pasta like tortelli di zucca as well. (11.5% alcohol)
