In our Event Space

Meet Jim and JiaMin Dierberg of Dierberg & Star Lane Wineries this Saturday! Dierberg has St. Louis roots, dating back to a vineyard purchase in Hermann, MO in 1974. After putting down roots in Santa Barbara in 1996, this winery family rose to a new level of prestige in the wine world. Now’s your chance to meet the current generation of winery owners in person and taste wines from both of their labels!

2012 Dierberg Winery Chardonnay Estate, Santa Maria
On Sale $24.99
Dierberg’s 2012 Chardonnay is gorgeous. Lemon oil, tropical fruit and butter are all tempered by the cool microclimate here. The flavors remain bright, focused and nuanced in a crystalline Chardonnay that stands out for its precision. A hint of sweetness from the oak adds complexity, but overall, the 2012 is a wine built on energy.

2012 Dierberg Pinot Noir Estate, Santa Maria
On Sale $36.99
The 2012 Pinot Noir Dierberg Vineyard shows the darker side of Pinot with its earthy, forest floor, red and black fruit and spice aromas and flavors. Coming all from sandy loam sois and aged 18 months in 35% new oak, it’s beautifully balanced, has solid mid-palate density and a terrific finish. Enjoy it over the coming 4-6 years.

2012 Dierberg Pinot Noir Drum Canyon Vineyard, Sta. Rita Hills
On Sale $36.99
Just as good, if not better, the 2012 Pinot Noir Drum Canyon Vineyard comes from the cool-climate Sta. Rita Hills AVA. From sandy loam soils (which is common for the region), completely destemmed and aged 18 months in all older barrels, it has a floral, underbrush-driven bouquet, with a core of sweet black raspberry and cherry blossom-styled fruit. As with all of the wines from this estate, it’s beautifully balanced, has solid underlying structure and a seamless texture that makes it hard to resist. It too can be enjoyed anytime over the coming 4-6 years.

2012 Star Lane Cabernet Sauvignon, Santa Ynez
On Sale $34.99
The 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon is ripe, bold and exuberant, with tons of intensity and voluptuousness on display. Ripe red cherry, smoke, tobacco, plum, menthol and new leather are some of the many aromas and flavors that jump from the glass in this flamboyant, super-expressive Cabernet Sauvignon from Star Lane. The 2012 is not the last word on complexity, but it is incredibly delicious and should continue to offer fine drinking for the better portion of the next decade, give or take.

2014 Star Lane Sauvignon Blanc, Santa Ynez
On Sale $19.99
A refreshing, light-bodied wine, the 2014 Sauvignon Blanc is a lovely wine to drink now and over the next year or two. Melon, white peach and flowers open up in the glass, while more typically varietal green/grassy notes aren’t particularly evident.
