Its inviting pale straw color leads to a spectrum of exotic aromas: mango, peach, lemongrass, basil, and a hint of white pepper. The wine dances on the palate with lively, bright, appropriate acidity, and flavors move more toward peach and melon notes as the wine finishes. The wine is simply delicious, and is sure to evoke many smiles.

2013 Peter Franus Zinfandel Brandlin Vineyard, Mount Veeder

This is a harmonious and delicious zin from 85-year-old vines that shows reserve and austerity that I appreciate. Full body, fine tannins and a flavorful finish. Subtle. Drink now.
92 Points, James Suckling

2013 Peter Franus Mourvedre, Red Hills Lake County

2013 Peter Franus Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley
On Sale $42.99
The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon is superb. A host of graphite, grilled herbs, licorice and spice meld into a core of inky fruit in a rich, powerful Cabernet Sauvignon that is going to take at least a few years to fully come together. This is an unusually big, opulent wine from Peter Franus, but all the elements are in the right place.
93 Points, Vinous Media

2014 Nicholson-Jones Sauvignon Blanc, Napa Valley
On Sale $26.99
A breath of spring with notes of lemon, apple, pear and melon appear in the nose with subtle underlying aromas of honeysuckle. Bright acidity on the palate gives way to ripe honeydew, cantaloupe and fresh cut grass. This wine is full bodied but maintains liveliness and freshness.
Winery Notes

2012 Nicholson-Jones Chardonnay Dolly Hill Vineyard, Napa Valley
On Sale $26.99
Ripe white peaches, apple, pear and lemon curd are prominent in the nose alongside notes of pineapple and crème fraiche. It is round and bursting with ripe fruit, yet has plenty of acidity and mineral character that provide solidity and structure. At a crisp 12.5 percent alcohol it has the palate weight and mouth coating viscosity of a Grand Cru Chablis, and in a similar sense is both big, yet refreshingly light on its feet. Unburdened with heavy oak usage, this wine is a unique expression of the vineyard site as well as the intent of the wine maker. Nicholson Jones seems to be able to consistently make balanced, versatile food wines and this chardonnay is no exception. Drink now or cellar for 5+ years.

2010 Nicholson-Jones Syrah Sugarloaf Vineyard, Napa Valley
On Sale $62.99
A deep ruby purple in color, this wine has notes of lilac, blueberries, and roasted carob on the nose. Its mouth filling, medium weight viscosity cascades over the palate to reveal a textured mélange of savory herbs, roasted game and crushed mineral. Old world finesse meets new world concentration in this classic example of what Syrah can become in the right hands. This wine can be enjoyed now but has the balance and structure to develop gracefully over the next decade.

2010 Nicholson-Jones Proprietary Cuvee, Napa Valley
On Sale $49.99
Aromas of baking spice, currants, blueberry, blackberry and vanilla are present almost immediately upon pouring. Given time in the glass a solid core of black cherry and high-toned red currant emerge against a backdrop of leather, smoke, earth and violets. The texture and is round and velvety on the palate with a contrasting freshness and acidity that make this wine atypically light on its feet for being so full bodied. Finely integrated tannins and subtle minerality further contribute to a long complex finish.
Winery Notes

2010 Nicholson-Jones The Delivery Red Blend, Napa Valley
On Sale $59.99
“The Delivery” shows dense and juicy black, red, and blue fruits in the nose against a backdrop of clean minerality, leather, and a subtle underpinning of vanilla, violets, and spice. Tart red cherries, chocolate, and earth are prominent on the palate leading to a long finish. This wine is full bodied and complex yet also maintains a liveliness and freshness that is so often missing in this style of wine.
