27 Sep “New Australia” Tasting
Saturday, September 29
12 to 4pm
In our Event Space
We’re tasting some great wines from Australia this Saturday! While this region has fallen off the radar for many consumers, we’ve noticed that the winemaking has changed drastically in recent years. No more over-the-top, jammy, oak bombs! We’re excited for folks to taste the NEW Australia!
NV The Chook Sparkling Shiraz, McLaren Vale
On Sale $16.99
Lots of licorice and tea leaf with meat and blackberry aromas. Full body, soft and lightly velvety sparkling red wine. Flavorful finish. Drink now.

2016 Torbreck “Woodcutter’s,” Semillon, Barossa Valley
On Sale $15.99
Medium bodied with a pristine lemon hue this youthful Semillon offers delicate scents of calamansi, limestone, candle wax, and toasted brioche. The copper-pink skins of this robust, age-old ‘Madeira Clone’ flesh out the palate, lending notes of almond kernels, soft pineapple, roasted cashew and white peach. Underlying notes of citrus oil and minerals maintain the wines freshness
whilst a crisp spine of razor-like acidity neatly lace together the finish. Although beautifully enjoyable in its youth with sashimi and fresh shellfish this wine will continue to increase in complexity with time and should provide compelling drinking over the coming years.
2016 The Chook Shiraz Viognier, McLaren Vale
On Sale $14.99
This is all one could expect from a shiraz at this price, and then some…Its value is hard to beat, but this is also a serious wine that requires respect for its spicy/savoury black fruits, length and balance.

2015 Glaetzer Grenache “Wallace,” Barossa
On Sale $19.99
Aromas of blackberry essence, eucalyptus, vanilla and just a hint of balsamic. Full body, fine tannins, vibrant acidity and a fresh finish. Drink now. Screw cap.
91 points, James Sucking
2015 Glaetzer Shiraz “Bishop,” Barossa
On Sale $31.99
Youthful purple. Powerful smoke- and spice-accented cassis, cherry liqueur and cola aromas are sharpened by a zesty mineral element. Deep-pitched black and blue fruit flavors show a surprisingly graceful character, picking up vanilla and floral pastille accents with air. Supple and seamless on the clinging, subtly tannic finish, which leaves a sweet dark berry note behind.

2015 Glaetzer Shiraz “Amon-Ra,” Barossa
On Sale $88.99
Inky purple. Explosive black and blue fruit, vanilla, Indian spices and floral scents show superb clarity and pick up a smoky nuance with aeration. Coats the palate with sweet blueberry, cherry-vanilla, cola and fruitcake flavors that show an uncanny blend of richness and vivacity. Finishes with outstanding energy and thrust and serious persistence; supple tannins lend shape. A large-scaled, emphatically fruity wine and, at 15.5 percent (declared) alcohol, no poster child for elegance, but I find it almost shockingly graceful for its sheer depth and mass.
