New White Burgundies from Albert Bichot

14 Jul New White Burgundies from Albert Bichot

Albert Bichot Burgundy Arrivals

The Domaines of Albert Bichot encompass almost every imaginable corner of this region. We have a number of these whites & reds landing this week. The wines have always been extremely approachable while young but have the stuffing to age. We especially love the Montagny, and feel it is worthy of stocking up on.

Whites

2014 Albert Bichot Domaine Long Depaquit Chablis 1er Cru Les Vacoupinsbichot clos
Pre-Sale Price $38.99
A cool, elegant and admirably pure green fruit suffused nose features ample Chablis typicity in the form of iodine, ocean breeze and mineral reduction. There is fine intensity to the attractively textured middle weight flavors that culminate in a chiseled, stony and highly energetic finale. If this can add a bit more breadth it could merit the top of my projected range.

2014 Albert Bichot Domaine Long Depaquit Les Clos Chablis Grand Cru
Pre-Sale Price $65.99
An interesting nose offers up notes of honeysuckle, mineral reduction and oyster shell hints. As is typically the case the broad-shouldered flavors are bigger, richer and more powerful if not finer while delivering terrific punch on the explosively persistent and palate coating finale. This too will require a few years of cellaring to find its center.

2014 Albert Bichot Domaine du Pavillon Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru
Pre-Sale Price $144.99
The 2014 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru (Domaine du Pavillon) was not picked until the last moment to obtain the ripeness. It has a well defined bouquet with citrus peel, a touch of brioche and orange blossom, quite precise but it needs bottle age to develop intensity. The palate is fresh on the entry, quite rounded in the mouth, better concentration here than many of its peers with a rounded, lightly honeyed finish that lingers in the mouth. This is a very fine Corton-Charlemagne from Bichot with more potential than many others that I tasted.
92-94 Points, The Wine Advocate

2014 Albert Bichot Chateau Gris Nuits-Saint-George Blanc Les Terrasses
Pre-Sale Price $69.99
The 2014 Nuits Saint Georges Blanc Les Terrasses (Chateau Gris) has a light white chocolate-tinged bouquet with just a brush of honey. The palate is rounded with soft, honeyed texture, leavened by the keen thread of acidity. This is so smooth and harmonious, hints of peach and apricot on the seductive finish. Quite commercial maybe, but you cannot complain.
88-90 Points, The Wine Advocate

2014 Albert Bichot Montagny 1er Cru
On Sale $29.99
This brilliant, limpid Montagny Premier Cru is golden in colour and redolent of oak, vanilla and brioche. It is round and delectable on the palate with lovely vivacity and minerality. The finish is long and fragrant with flavours of almond and fresh and cooked apple.

Red

2014 Albert Bichot Mounlin-A-Vent Rochegres
Pre-Sale Price $45.99
Intense and deep, our Moulin-à-Vent « Rochegrès » robe shines with ruby red nuances and purple reflections. Floral and full-flavoured, this beautiful wine exhales notes of rose and black wild berries with an expressive mineral backdrop. The mouth is generous, with an aromatic structure that is both complex and harmonious. The finish is intense and subtly flavoured.
