15 Feb Petite Sirah Tasting Sun. 2/18
Sunday, February 18
1 to 4pm
At the Bar
This Sunday we’re pulling the corks on some new favorite Petite Sirahs! This grape brings us inky, techno-color purple, over-the-top reds…so rich and tannic, with generous fruit. The best part is this is a grape that can pull off great wines at reasonable prices.
2016 Daou Vineyards “Pessimist” Red Blend, Paso Robles
On Sale $27.99
Composed of 27%Syrah, 19% Zinfandel and 54% Petite Sirah, the deep garnet-purple colored 2016 Pessimist delivers a gregarious nose of ripe black cherries, blackberries and blueberries plus notions of Chinese five spice, mocha and raspberries. Full-bodied, voluptuous, soft and plush, it packs in the fruit cake and exotic spices, finishing with great length.

2016 Field Recordings Petite Sirah “Pets,” Paso Robles
On Sale $16.99
We’ve been big fans of this micro producer (only 25 barrels of this one were made) for some time now. The wines are fun….and drinking is supposed to be fun, right?! This is 100% Petite Sirah and absolutely delicious. The palate has notes of ripe black cherry, cracked black pepper, and dark chocolate. This one way over-delivers with a decidedly super-ripe, flamboyant style and all of its elements in the right place. There is a real feeling of palate weight and intensity here.
