Rhone Values from Gonnet

22 Aug Rhone Values from Gonnet

From Guillaume Gonnet, one of the hottest Rhone producers we’re in love with right now, we have these two absolute bargains from two lesser-known villages in the region. Both are Grenache-based wines with the balance made up of Syrah. Gonnet is young and passionate and together with his wife (also a winemaker, from Australia), they make some of the best Grenache we’ve ever tasted, particularly at these modest prices.

2015 Guillaume Gonnet Rasteau “Le Maestro”
On Sale $19.99
90% Grenache, 10% Syrah; average vine age of 80 years; hillside vineyards above the village; vinified in tank and cuve. Outstanding complex nose of garrigue, smoke and roasted meats; black fruits and great structure through the middle. The finish circles back to the initial aromas and flavors of smoke, earth, pepper and garrigue. Outstanding.
