Taste Aged Baroli!

Join us and Riccardo Sgirra of Paolo Scavino winery in Piedmont on Saturday January 16th, from 12-4P.M as we sample a selection of their red wines including a 2000 Barolo. This is a great chance to taste their drink now wines as well as the immediately enjoyable 2011 Baroli.

2000 Paolo Scavino Barolo Carobric
On Sale $106.99
Wonderfully fresh and floral, with strawberry, raspberry and cut cedar aromas. Full-bodied, with refined tannins and a clean, fresh finish. Builds on the palate. Very elegant and long. Not quite the 1997 or 1995, but clearly outstanding. Best after 2008.
94 Points, Wine Spectator

2007 Paolo Scavino Barolo Bricco Ambrogio
On Sale $56.99
Love the nose of dark berries and citrus fruit that follow through to a full body, with firm tannins and bright acidity. Lovely focused fruit with minerals. Precise. Best after 2013.
93 Points, James Suckling

2011 Paolo Scavino Barolo Carobric
On Sale $60.99
This is ultra-refined with rose petal, light chocolate and plum character. Full body, fine tannins and a soft and caressing finish. Very beautiful wine.
95 Points, James Suckling

2011 Paolo Scavino Barolo
On Sale $37.99
There’s focus and beauty to this full-bodied Barolo with pure fruit, walnut and berry character. Round and velvety. Clean finish. Shows wonderful potential. Better in 2018. I like this as much as the excellent 2010.
93 Points, James Suckling

2011 Paolo Scavino Barolo Bricco Ambrogio
On Sale $50.99
The 2011 Barolo Bricco Ambrogio is soft, and juicy to the core. Dark red and black stone fruits, leather, smoke, tobacco and incense open up in a pliant, textured Barolo that expresses the full generosity of the year. Scavino has only made the Bricco Ambrogio for about a decade. So far, this site seems to yield relatively soft, fruit-forward Barolos. There is a lot to like in the 2011’s inviting personality.

2014 Paolo Scavino Barbera d’Alba
On Sale $17.99
The 2014 Barbera d’Alba is a delicious, joyous Barbera to drink now and over the next few years. This is an especially juicy wine for the year, with lovely dark red cherry, plum and pomegranate flavors and plenty of near term appeal.

2014 Paolo Scavino Dolcetto d’Alba
On Sale $12.99
The 2014 Dolcetto d’Alba is a solid wine for the vintage. Varietal dark blue/purplish fruit, licorice and spice notes emerge in a simple, uncomplicated Dolcetto over the next year or two.
