Join us to sample two new arrivals from our friend Chris Leonard (a St. Louis native!). This cool winery specializes in Roussanne and Zinfandel but they are spreading their wings with these new bottlings that we think are just incredible. Taste for yourself!
2014 Leonard Wine Co. “Muddy Arch” Grenache Blanc, Snow Vineyard, Sonoma Valley
On Sale $27.99
This bottling is from Chris and Tom Leonard’s inaugural vintage at Leonard Wine Company and Muddy Arch. The Snow Vineyard is a small, well-manicured vineyard nestled on the east side of Sonoma, just a couple miles from the Sonoma Plaza. The Sonoma Valley warm days and cool evenings create ideal conditions for white Rhone varietals; they thrive in this well-established, historical vineyard. Many varietals are grown in the Snow Vineyard that do not see much commercial production in Sonoma Valley anymore, including Grenache Blanc, Picpoul, and Marsanne.
2016 Leonard Wine Co. “Lou’s Blend,” Sonoma/Napa Valleys
On Sale $29.99
To produce elegant, vineyard designate Roussanne and Zinfandel wines of luxury and depth, we first and foremost farm concentrated fruit, and then pick early to retain varietal characters and site expression and to avoid high alcohol and overripe flavors. In the winery we carry out ‘old world’ fermentation techniques to impart stability and finesse, and ultimately develop a textural and structured framework by way of extended barrel aging on the lees and bottle aging before release. The result is a classic wine style offering a dense, full-length palate littered in mouthfeel and finishing with succulence all the while accompanied by a range of savory and fruity aromatics and flavors. Full of acid and texture our food wines marry cuisine beautifully.
