2013 Peay Vineyards Pinot Noir Estate “Ama” Sonoma Coast
On Sale $53.99
A deceptively mid-weight Pinot, the 2013 Pinot Noir Estate Ama possesses notable underlying tension and energy to support its boisterous reddish-hued fruits. Hints of orange peel and cranberry add an exotic upper register. Peay’s cool, coastal vineyard confers restraint, but there is plenty of resonance in the glass. This is the raciest and most up-front of the Peay Pinots.

2013 Peay Vineyards Pinot Noir Estate Scallop Shelf, Sonoma Coast
On Sale $59.99
The 2013 Pinot Noir Estate Scallop Shelf is quite floral and lifted at this stage, with expressive aromatics and good overall balance. Crushed raspberries and rose petal contribute to the wine’s red-toned profile. Today the mid-palate is a bit lacking in depth, but if the 2013 fleshes out in bottle may merit a higher score.

Deep red. Sexy, highly perfumed aromas of red berry liqueur, potpourri and Asian spices, with a smoky mineral topnote. Silky, open-knit raspberry and floral pastille flavors show very good depth and focus, with tangy acidity adding lift and spine. Displays a suave blend of power and vivacity on the strikingly long spicy, floral finish, which leaves a refreshingly bitter berry skin note behind. This wine transcends the vintage and should age effortlessly on its balance.
