Saturday, August 12

This Saturday’s tasting is a bit of a hodgepodge geographically speaking, but this collection of wines represents some of our favorites from several categories.

2015 St Hilaire Brut Blanquette de Limoux
On Sale $11.99
A pretty and remarkably drinkable sparkler with soft green apple, tangerine oil and faint yellow floral notes accented with hints of lavender.

2016 Marisco Pinot Gris “The Ned,” Marlborough, New Zealand
On Sale $12.99
Sporting a very pale pink / blush color, the 2016 The Ned Pinot Gris reveals a yeasty nose with core notes of Golden Delicious apples, green guava and apricots with a touch of aniseed. Medium-bodied and dry on the palate, it has a refreshing acid line lifting the savory flavors, finishing long and spicy.

2015 Taft Street Chardonnay, Russian River Valley
On Sale $18.99
With a bright nose of pear and lemon, this Chardonnay highlights fruit-forward flavors of honeysuckle and apple. The French Oak and partial malolactic fermentation add a delightfully creamy combination of toasted almond and creme brulee. The result is a bright, fruit-forward wine with a long enjoyable finish.
Winery Notes

2014 Edge Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley
On Sale $22.99
The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon is an absolutely delicious entry-level wine. Super-ripe red cherry, plum, mint, lavender and rose petal are front and center in a racy, silky Cabernet that is best enjoyed over the next few years, while the fruit retains its vibrancy. This is a fabulous wine for the money.

2014 Field Stone Cabernet Sauvignon, Alexander Valley
On Sale $17.99
Our Cabernet is a luxuriant blend of four of our estate clones,. The result is, in short, terrific. In character this ’14 release is an expressive, prime Alexander Valley Cabernet that opens up with seductive, spicy, varietal aromas that follow through with impressive mouth-filling flavors of ripe plums, Bing cherries and blackberries. This Cabernet is a classic example of Field Stone’s definitive “Alexander Valley Style”: rich, fruit forward, with attractive notes of oak vanillin that never dominate.
Winery Notes

2013 Owen Roe Yakima Valley Red, Washington
On Sale $28.99
A blend of Merlot (45%), Cabernet Franc (33%) and Cabernet Sauvignon, this wine offers aromas of cocoa, spice, flowers, herb and red and black fruit. The flavors show concentration and depth, along with a lovely sense of texture that keeps the interest high. The tannins give a light squeeze.
