This reposado is a distinctive tequila distilled by Melly Cardenas at her small distillery in the highlands of Jalisco. Made from mature agave cultivated at the height of it's sugar production, it is baked within 24 hours of being cut, spends 24 hours in earthen ovens, and is rested for 24 hours before crushing. It is naturally fermented, twice distilled and then rested in American whiskey barrels for 8 months. The bottles are handblown from recycled glass in Guadalajara. Look for a pale straw hue and fruity, funky aromas. The palate offers distinct tropical fruit notes, opening with lychee and a faint floral hint, plus a faint waft of ripe-banana funk midpalate. The finish is long and drying, showing grapefruit peel and pink peppercorn. Sip neat or mix into Palomas.
