The Astigiani Barbera d'Asti is fresh, fruity and very easy to like. Ripe red plum, spice and spring flowers are all on parade in this Barbera done mostly in steel with a touch of oak. The juicy red fruit note carries through to the finish. This wine is insanely easy to drink. This is drinking wine, not thinking wine and it's just flat-out delicious.

Barbera is one of the most widely-planted and most-loved grapes of Piedmont, but in the worldwide wine market, it is too often overshadowed by Nebbiolo (Barolo, Barbaresco). Meanwhile, the Piedmontese population is popping corks on Barbera. The two main types, Barbera d'Asti and Barbera d'Alba, are different in character. Asti versions (from further north) are brighter and Alba versions are rounder. We recommend trying both!
